Virgin Mobile UAE: App-Led Telco Experience

+50% App Retention | +65% Faster SIM Activation Flow

Transformed the telecom experience into a frictionless mobile-first journey from SIM ordering to plan customisation.

About Virgin Mobile UAE: App-Led Telco Experience

Virgin Mobile UAE is part of the Virgin Group, offering a 100% digital mobile service tailored to younger, tech-savvy consumers. Their mobile app is the primary gateway for onboarding, plan management, top-ups, and support replacing traditional store-driven telecom workflows.

The challenge

Despite a strong brand presence, Virgin Mobile’s app needed performance upgrades, simplified onboarding, and faster plan configuration UX. Users dropped off during SIM activation, and the app’s modularity didn’t support evolving promo offers or API scalability.

Services Used:

We carried out a strategic UI/UX redesign based on global user personas to ensure intuitive navigation and higher engagement across regions. The platform was built as a multilingual website using Next.js and i18n, allowing seamless language switching for international users. A special focus was given to product showcasing and streamlining the e-commerce flow for maximum conversions. On the backend, we performed a complete migration to Strapi headless CMS, hosted on AWS for scalability and performance. The project also included robust SEO structuring with schema implementation, alongside features for distributor registration and a dedicated dashboard to manage partner activities. Additionally, web analytics and engagement optimisation tools were integrated to track user behaviour and continuously improve performance.
